New Partners & Director

John Genz

John Genz is a Partner in the Tax Department of Amper, Politziner & Mattia. He has specialized expertise in state and local tax issues, mergers and acquisitions, real estate industry transaction tax planning and telecommunication tax and fee planning. John works closely with many of the firm’s SEC clients and is Director of the firm’s State and Local Tax Group and a member of the firm’s Franchise Group and Real Estate Group. He has over 17 years’ experience at both an international accounting firm and a private banking and investment firm.

John graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and obtained his Master of Science in Taxation from Seton Hall University. Amember of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), John is active in many professional organizations. He is President and past Chairperson of the Federal and State Taxation Committee of the Monmouth/Ocean Chapter of the NJSCPA. John is also a member of the Federal and State Tax Interest Groups for the NJSCPA and Co-chair of the Baker Tilly International State and Local Tax (S.A.L.T.) Group.


Richard Colloca

Rich Colloca is a Partner in the firm’s Accounting and Auditing Department providing accounting, auditing, tax services and business consulting to mid-size companies in the manufacturing and services industries. With more than 11 years in the public accounting profession, Richard provides accounting, auditing, tax services and business consulting to manufacturers and distributors. As a member of the firm’s Manufacturing and Wholesale Distribution Group, Richard has in-depth knowledge of the profitability and productivity issues facing this industry, including operating efficiency, internal controls and costing.

Richard earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Montclair State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Managerial Accountants.


Al Pastino

Amper, Politziner & Mattia is pleased to announce that Al Pastino has joined as a Partner of the firm. Al has more than 30 years of professional experience in the financial services industry and public accounting. Al will head up our new Transaction Support practice as well as the public companies group in NY. As a Senior Partner at Deloitte, Al founded and managed the firm's New York Emerging Business Services Practice and was managing partner of the High Technology Industry Group. Al has worked for Alex. Brown & Sons, Inc., Fortis Private Capital, and Kohlberg & Company. Al has served on the Board of Directors and Audit Committees and as CFO of a number of public and private companies. Over the past several years, he has been involved in personal venture capital investing, consulting and financial management of private and public companies.

Al serves on the Board of Trustees, Executive, Finance and Audit Committees of St. Joseph's University. A graduate of St. Joseph's University, Al earned his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed the Owners/Presidents Program at Harvard Business School.


Joan Duva

Joan M. D’Uva, CPA/ABV, ASA, CFE is a Director in the firm’s Flemington office. Joan has extensive experience in appraisal and valuation of business assets and personal assets in matrimonial cases, as well as damage measurement in civil, tort and criminal litigation. She also has extensive experience in fraud investigations for corporate clients including employee embezzlement issues and has earned the certified fraud examiner designation.

As an Accredited Business Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers, a Certified Public Accountant and recipient of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant’s Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) designation, Joan combines the use of appraisal and valuation skills and other financial experience to solve complex problems in all types of civil, tort and criminal litigation. During her more than 20-year career, Joan has served as an expert witness, as well as a court-appointed appraiser and valuation expert. She has performed appraisals and valuations of businesses, securities, professional practices and damages. Her business valuation and forensic experience has encompassed a variety of industries including restaurants, wholesale distribution, automobile dealerships, retailing, services, professional practices, manufacturing, insurance, real estate and healthcare.
